About
Matteo grew up in the northwest of France.
After some years of studying art in France, Matteo travelled extensively, always drawing and painting. Matteo loves large fields, open horizons, and expansive skies. Matteo first created classic landscape paintings similar to those of classical French landscape artists, before moving on to new creations in a minimalist, Zen style after long stays in Japan.
Developing a sense of mood and atmosphere halfway between abstraction and realism, he creates a sense of balance between the relationships of sky and land. His work explores delicate harmonies of colourful and warm landscapes. Through a simplified vision of grand landscapes at sunset or sunrise, in spring or summertime, we can almost feel the weather, even the temperature. Matteo creates decorative coloured canvases for varied interiors - a touch of optimism and happiness on the wall. Trees cast gentle shadows, suggesting time passing peacefully.
There is hope in the air - like the promise of tomorrow after a fulfilling day. His work brings a sense of joy, warmth, and order - like a summer memory softened by time. A quiet harmony lingers between the trees and houses, suggesting comfort and routine. Matteo's work carries a quiet poetry - minimal yet emotionally layered. His use of expansive negative space, soft skies, and distant dwellings allows the viewer to breathe and reflect.
These are landscapes not just of places, but of moods - gentle invitations to pause, observe, and feel. The expansive sky suggests vastness and introspection. It creates a meditative, dreamlike calm, inviting stillness in the viewer's mind. These paintings evoke a sense of melancholic peace - the kind found in empty fields at dusk, when the world feels soft and infinite.
